Real Off-Road Warriors

Price range: $40,030 to $60,405
Toyota offers two capable, large, off-road SUVs, the storied Land Cruiser and the Sequoia. In most of the world, the Land Cruiser would be the hands-down off-road favorite. But in the U.S., Toyota prefers to trade on this famous name by loading it with extras and a profit-making $68,020 base price. We prefer scratching less expensive fenders, hence our selection of the Tundra-based Sequoia. It's also trimmed for an upscale family's daily needs, but it still packs the V8 power, truck-frame beef and standard 4-wheel drive to take eight passengers anywhere.
